A week cycling Istria: part 2

Here are a few photos from the second half of our Istrian Tour.  The new Blogger App that we are using now allows us to comment on the photos, so scroll down to see some comments on what you are actually looking at.

The smokestack on this coal fired power plant near Plomin, Croatia must have been at least 750' tall.  The juxtaposition within the otherwise verdant valley at the head of this inlet made for an interesting sight.

From the ferry terminal on Cres it was a single, 11-kilometer traversing climb to a saddle where we caught a glimpse of the endemic Griffon Condor.

Cres is very arid and covered in rocks.  These same rocks have been stacked up into walls everywhere, we guessed for livestock, but we only saw a handful of goats and some sheep?

Oh yeah, and this Dung Beattle rolling his prize home to show his friends.

The campsite in Cres had a nice bar and Pizzeria, so instead of riding more we took a day off to relax.

The marina in the town of Cres.

View out to the south from the high point along the road on the way back to the ferry terminal on Cres.

Beautiful but very hot ride from Brestova to Pazin.  We sought out this bus stop for some shade.  After this stop Susan only made it another ~2km before having to take a nap on a rock that had a small patch of shade of its own.

Draguc, Croatia.  We rode an awesome road that wound rough the countryside culminated with 15km descent past this and other picturesque villages.

Susan riding towards Motovun, perhaps Istria's most famous hill town with a rampart walk along the old city walls encircling the small village.

View from Motovun's rampart.

Back to Momjan and the view from Michael and Marijan's balcony.  We have come to love the vilage bell towers that mark the days passing and provide a nice wake-up each morning.
